Herbal Remedies for Chronic Pain Relief

Updated: Jul 16, 2021

Herbal remedies have been used for thousands of years to treat serious as well as simple physical and mental health issues. People are increasingly opting for herbal nutritional counseling instead of choosing allopathic cures for everyday use.

Herbal therapies hardly have any side effects while being 100% natural. You can use herbal remedies at home as an alternative to painkillers such as ibuprofen, paracetamol, and aspirin.

Here are some pain-causing health problems that herbal cures can aid with:

Cold sores

Not only are they painful, but they also look unsightly and are extremely contagious. While preventive measures are the best cure here, you can try herbal supplements to help treat the problem if it does happen. For instance, evening primrose oil can be applied on the area because of its healing properties. Evening primrose oil also contains fatty acids which help prevent cold sores and other problems such as allergies, eczema and hormone imbalances. Also, taking lysine can help with Vitamin C can help heal Cold sores faster. My favorite brand for this use is Sufficient C.

Earaches

Ear infections usually cause earaches which are accompanied by dizziness. Such infections can be a result of excessive mucus or hardened ear wax in the ear canal. Tea tree and garlic ear drops can be used for pain relief and as a home remedy in such cases.

Gingivitis

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums, making them look red and swollen. It usually causes gum bleeding along with soreness and itchiness. It is often caused by lack of vitamin D and bad dental hygiene.

Chewing on myrrh, or oil pulling with myrrh oil helps in treating the infection, alleviates pain and brings down the inflammation. My favorite essential oils are Doterra oils. Mix a few drops of essential myrrh oil with an ounce of coconut oil and pull in the mouth for five to ten minutes daily, and see the results.

Headaches

Millions of people suffer from recurrent headaches and keep popping pills for some relief from the pain. You can try nature’ own painkiller white willow bark, or homeopathic Mag Phos to feel immediate relief. Apart from that, make sure that you are not dehydrated or stressed out all the time.

Leg Cramps

Leg cramps are usually a result of sitting at work desks for too long or lifting heavy weights. It is also caused by mineral deficiencies.

Mixing a few drops of the seaweed dulse with water will help regulate the calcium and magnesium levels in your body. While helping to reduce pain, it will also lower the occurrence of leg cramps.

Herbs are wonderful and effective healing substances which can help to treat, aid with, as well as prevent a host of diseases. But it’s important that you consult a medical professional before using them, especially if you are on other medication. Call BC Wellness Center and set an appointment with Dr. Vallone.
